Strengths, Blind Spots & the Honest Assessment
Consumer instincts are genuinely rare
Finding Snapchat at seed, Epic Games at growth — and being right about both — requires a specific skill for reading consumer behaviour ahead of monetisation. Their consumer track record is one of the best in the industry.
Enterprise depth is under-appreciated
Mulesoft, AppDynamics and Rubrik are enormous outcomes. The pattern — patient enterprise build, acquisition at the right moment — has repeated multiple times.
The global strategy adds complexity
Running five separate geographic funds with different teams and different LPs creates coordination costs. Not all LPs want global diversification.
Consumer social is harder now
Snapchat is competing with TikTok, Instagram Reels and BeReal simultaneously. The consumer social landscape is harder to invest in now than during the 2010s mobile wave.
