Not financial advice. This page summarizes ARK Investment Management's published research and public fund disclosures for research purposes — it is not affiliated with or endorsed by ARK, and not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. ARK's forecasts are explicitly long-horizon and have a mixed track record; treat their price targets as one house's model, not consensus. Do your own due diligence.
01 // THE THESIS
What ARK Actually Believes
CORE IDEA
Disruptive innovation is under-owned
ARK's founding claim: traditional benchmarks are built around the past, so genuinely new platforms sit outside index weights until they're already huge. They run concentrated, high-conviction, actively-managed funds to own them early.
FIVE PLATFORMS
Everything maps to five technologies
AI, Energy Storage, Robotics, Multiomic Sequencing, and Public Blockchains — and crucially, ARK argues these converge, each accelerating the others rather than growing in isolation.
WRIGHT'S LAW
Costs fall on a schedule
ARK's analytical engine: for every cumulative doubling of units produced, cost falls a predictable percentage. They use it to project launch costs (-17% per doubling), battery, sequencing and inference costs — then size the market that cheapness unlocks.
TIME HORIZON
Five years, not five quarters
Every number on this page is a 2030 projection. ARK explicitly accepts high short-term volatility in exchange for the long arc — which is exactly why their funds swing far harder than the index in both directions.
THE 2026 CLAIM
"The Great Acceleration"
This year's framing: AI is the central dynamo igniting an inflection in macroeconomic growth, not just tech-sector growth. ARK forecasts innovation's share of global equity market cap rising toward ~35% growth-driven dominance by 2030.
WHY IT MATTERS HERE
It overlaps your hub almost exactly
ARK's platforms map onto seven of your nine sectors. Reading their thesis is a useful stress-test: where do you agree, where are they too optimistic, and what are they seeing that your research isn't?

IDEA 01 · THE GREAT ACCELERATION
~35%
Innovation's share of global equity value
ARK projects disruptive-innovation market cap compounding far faster than non-innovation equities through 2030, with AI as the central dynamo lifting real GDP growth itself.
IDEA 02 · AI INFRASTRUCTURE
$1.4T
Annual data-centre systems investment by 2030
~$500B in 2025 (2.5× the 2012–23 average) tripling by 2030. Growth in data-centre systems accelerated from a 5% to a 29% CAGR post-ChatGPT; inference costs fell >99% in a year.
IDEA 03 · AI CONSUMER OS
$8T+
Online consumption facilitated by AI agents in 2030
Agents rising from ~2% of online spend to ~25%. AI search could go from 10% to 65% of global search traffic, and AI-mediated consumer revenue from ~$20B to ~$900B (~105% CAGR).
IDEA 04 · AI PRODUCTIVITY
$13T
Global software spend, rapid-adoption case
From $1.43T today, growing 19–56% annually depending on adoption speed. Software-development inference costs fell 91% in eight months. ARK argues hours worked fall without long-term unemployment rising.
IDEA 05 · BITCOIN
~$16T
Bitcoin market cap in 2030, base case
~63% CAGR from ~$2T, built bottom-up from TAM penetration: institutional allocation, digital gold (~40% of gold's $24.4T cap), EM safe haven, nation-state and corporate treasuries. US ETFs + public companies already hold ~12% of supply.
IDEA 06 · DIGITAL ASSETS
$28T
Total digital-asset market cap in 2030
~61% CAGR, with bitcoin ~70% of it and smart-contract networks ~$6T. ARK argues most L1 value comes from monetary premium, not cash flows — >90% of Ethereum's value on their maths.
IDEA 07 · TOKENIZED ASSETS
$11T
Tokenized real-world assets by 2030
From ~$19B — a ~1.38% share of all financial assets. Post-GENIUS Act, stablecoin volumes hit a $3.5T trailing-30-day average in Dec 2025, 2.3× the major legacy card networks combined.
IDEA 08 · DEFI APPLICATIONS
$800M+
Hyperliquid revenue with <15 employees
ARK's evidence that value is shifting from networks to applications: crypto-native firms (Hyperliquid, Tether, Pump.fun) now top global revenue-per-employee rankings, ahead of Nvidia, Apple and Meta.
IDEA 09 · MULTIOMICS
$1.2Q
US "healthy lifespan" opportunity (quadrillion)
A deliberately theoretical ceiling: eliminating disease deaths and age-related decline would add ~11.9 billion quality-adjusted life years at $100k each. Nearer-term: AI cuts drug time-to-market 2–3 years today, 4–5 years with emerging methods.
IDEA 10 · REUSABLE ROCKETS
$160B
Annual satellite-connectivity revenue at scale
~15% of ARK's global communications revenue forecast. Launch costs fall ~17% per cumulative doubling of upmass; bandwidth costs ~44% per doubling of Gbps in orbit.
IDEA 11 · ROBOTICS
$26T
Combined robotics revenue opportunity
~$13T household + ~$13T manufacturing. ARK's boldest call: compute scaling laws put Tesla Optimus at human-level task performance around 2028 — while conceding humanoids are exponentially harder than robotaxis.
IDEA 12 · DISTRIBUTED ENERGY
~$10T
Cumulative global power investment by 2030
Roughly 2× current capex to meet AI-era demand, with stationary storage deployments scaling ~19×. ARK expects nuclear cost declines to resume alongside solar and batteries.
IDEA 13 · AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES
$34T
Robotaxi enterprise value in 2030
The single largest number in the report — and the most concentrated: ARK gives autonomous technology platforms the majority of the economics. Primary stated risk: whether automakers other than Tesla can scale fleets.
IDEA 14 · AUTONOMOUS LOGISTICS
$480B
Autonomous delivery revenue in 2030
$320B over-the-road trucking + $160B last-mile drone/robot. Autonomous electric trucking cuts cost per ton-mile from ~$0.07 to ~$0.03; app delivery fees from ~$15 to under $1.
All 14 forecasts, same scale. Log-scaled so a $160B call and a $34T call can share one chart. Two ideas are deliberately left off: "The Great Acceleration" (~35%) is a share of market cap, not a dollar figure, and Multiomics' $1.2 quadrillion "healthy lifespan" number is an explicitly theoretical ceiling ARK itself frames as illustrative, not a market-size forecast — plotting it alongside the others would visually imply a comparability that isn't there.

ARK's ETF Lineup
UK access — read this before shopping for tickers
The US-listed ARK ETFs below generally cannot be bought by UK retail investors: they aren't UCITS-compliant and don't publish a KID under PRIIPs. ARK acquired Rize ETF in 2023 and now runs UCITS versions listed in London — including one also ticker'd ARKK — available via Trading 212, Hargreaves Lansdown, Interactive Investor, IBKR and similar. The UCITS funds hold different portfolios and fee structures from their US namesakes, so check the ISIN, not just the ticker. For UK-accessible exposure to the private names, see Baillie Gifford.
~12 funds, roughly $17.1B combined AUM across the six flagship active funds, average expense ratio ~0.75% — actively managed and concentrated, which is the opposite of the cheap index core described in Portfolio Strategy.
Read the return chart against the concentration chart together. ARKG's +44.7% is still by far the best 1-year number here — though down from +59.7% last week — on a fund where the top 10 holdings are 58.4% of assets, the most concentrated in the lineup (narrowly ahead of ARKQ at 57.3% and ARKX at 57.2%). ARKG is the only ARK flagship beating the S&P 500's +16.0%; the other five are all underwater over twelve months, led by ARKX (-4.2%) and ARKQ (-6.9%) at the less-bad end, with ARKK at -8.6%, ARKW at -10.0% and ARKF at -18.3% bringing up the rear. ARKW remains the most diversified fund at 45.9% top-10 weight. Reported AUM moved sharply versus last week's snapshot — ARKK ~$7.8B (from ~$6.8B) and ARKG ~$4.1B (from ~$2.1B) — a gap that mostly reflects the data source's snapshot timing rather than real flows of that size, so treat the week-over-week change with caution. 05 // WHAT THEY'RE BUYING
Recent Conviction & Trades
ARK publishes daily trade files — unusually transparent for an active manager, though ARK itself calls them unofficial and unreconciled, and they exclude ETF creations and redemptions. Recent direction (trades reported Oct 12 – Oct 16, 2026; dollar values are approximate, valued at closing prices):
ACCUMULATING
CoreWeave: ~$25.9M bought on Oct 14–15
ARKK and ARKW bought 188,665 shares (~$12.4M) on Oct 14 and 192,566 (~$13.4M; 148,950 ARKK + 43,616 ARKW) on Oct 15, even as a D.A. Davidson analyst warned of a possible equity wipeout if the AI spending boom faltered; credit markets remain cautious, with its 2031/2032 bonds yielding near 15%. Nvidia's Jensen Huang and a BofA Buy rating ($140 target) were the counter-voices.
ACCUMULATING
Recursion, Freenome and a gene-editing/diagnostics sweep
ARKG and ARKK bought 4.23M Recursion shares (~$17.6M) on Oct 15, plus Iambic Therapeutics (1.18M shares, a new position) and roughly $7.5M of Freenome across the week. On Oct 12–13 ARKG also added Compass Pathways (~$3.3M), Alamar (~$2.5M), CRISPR (~$2.3M), Nurix, Beam, Guardant, Kymera and Intellia in smaller sizes.
ACCUMULATING
Meta and Cerebras
Meta: ~$17.3M bought Oct 13 and ~$7.1M Oct 14 (9,577 ARKW shares), after a small ~$3.4M sale Oct 12 — about $21M net, following Zuckerberg's defence of $100–200B in AI spending. Cerebras: ARKW bought 67,362 shares (~$10M) Oct 13 and ARKK 44,689 (~$6.3M) Oct 14, the day an IPO lock-up expired and up to 19.4M shares became eligible for sale.
ACCUMULATING
Rocket Lab and Kodiak AI
Rocket Lab: 168,633 shares (~$9.3M) across ARKK/ARKQ/ARKX on Oct 15, despite Neutron's first flight slipping into 2027. ARKQ also bought Kodiak AI (500,457 shares on Oct 14, ~$0.8M) and Symbotic earlier in the week (~$0.9M).
TRIMMING
Personalis, CareDx and 10x Genomics
Personalis sales ran every day of the week — roughly $50M in total (about $11.5M Oct 12, $14.3M Oct 13, $11.0M Oct 14, $2.3M Oct 15, $10.5M Oct 16). CareDx saw ~$12M of sales across ARKG, and ARKK sold 113,555 10x Genomics shares (~$8.3M) and ~$2.9M of Twist on Oct 14 — notable because both remain top-3 ARKG holdings.
TRIMMING
Toast, Shopify, Palantir and Amazon
Toast: ~$24M sold across ARKF/ARKW over Oct 13–15. Shopify: ~$12M (Oct 14–15). Palantir: ~$12.3M (61,389 shares Oct 14–15) even after a record high and a Goldman Buy upgrade ($230 target). Amazon: 30,050 shares (~$7.7M) on Oct 15. Block (~$3.2M) and DraftKings were also trimmed. ARK gave no rationale; sales alone don't establish a change of view.
READING THE WEEK
Rotation from fintech/mature winners into AI infrastructure and biotech
The pattern is selling fintech and richly-valued winners (Toast, Shopify, Palantir, Amazon) and clearing out small diagnostics names (Personalis, CareDx) to fund AI infrastructure (CoreWeave, Meta, Cerebras), launch/autonomy (Rocket Lab, Kodiak) and AI drug discovery (Recursion). Last week's eVTOL and bitcoin-sleeve activity was not repeated.
Approximate net dollar flow per name from ARK's daily trade disclosures, trades reported Oct 12 – Oct 16, 2026, summed across funds and days using the market values shown at cathiesark.com (Meta is net of a small Oct 12 sale). Limited to moves with a reported dollar figure. Moves reported only in shares or with no size — Iambic (new position), Kodiak AI's smaller days, Alamar, Compass and the other small gene-editing buys, DraftKings and Block trims — are covered in the cards above but left off the chart where no dollar values were reported, and are not estimated here.

06 // HOW TO READ ARK
Strengths, Blind Spots & the Honest Scorecard
Where ARK is genuinely useful
Their cost-curve work (Wright's Law) is rigorous and often directionally right — sequencing, battery and inference costs really did collapse. The Big Ideas report is one of the best free primary-source syntheses of frontier tech available, with ~6 pages of citations.
The track record is genuinely mixed
ARKK saw roughly $2.09B in net outflows over the trailing twelve months through Aug 27, and — per a Sep 5, 2026 Motley Fool analysis — its 5-year annualized return sits at -7.5% versus the S&P 500's +11.2% a year over the same stretch; AUM remains far below the $50B+ 2021 peak. ARKK is also down roughly 9.6% year-to-date in 2026, a sharp reversal from 2025's strong rally. The fund's third quarter was its worst since early 2025, down 12%, driven largely by Tesla — its largest position at roughly 9.8% of assets — as delivery growth slowed and Chinese EV competition intensified; ARK held firm on its $2,600 2029 Tesla price target through the drawdown. Morningstar analyst Amy Arnott ranks ARKK the 4th-biggest wealth destroyer among all US mutual funds and ETFs over the decade through 2025, estimating it erased nearly $5B in investor wealth despite periods of strong headline returns. On the latest trailing-1-year numbers ARKK is down ~8.6% against ~+16.0% for the S&P 500 (SPY), and ARKG (+44.7%) is the only one of the six flagship funds currently beating the index — and its lead has narrowed from +59.7% a week ago. Zoom out to the full 2014-inception window, though, and ARKK's own annualized return is ~13.8% — roughly in line with the S&P 500 over that longer stretch — a reminder that almost all of it arrived in the 2020-21 mania, and the verdict flips depending on which years you start and stop the clock.
Forecasts assume everything compounds
The models chain optimistic assumptions: adoption × penetration × take rate × multiple. Each is defensible alone; multiplied together they produce headline numbers ($34T, $1.2 quadrillion) that need heavy discounting. Wood's own single-stock targets follow the same pattern — she has said Tesla could reach $2,600/share by 2029 on robotaxi economics, and ARK's bitcoin base case for 2030 was recently trimmed from $1.5M to $1.2M, still an order of magnitude above where the asset trades today.
Concentration and reflexivity
ARK funds are concentrated in illiquid mid-caps and sometimes own large percentages of a company's float — which can amplify moves in both directions during inflows and redemptions.
Wood pushes back publicly on the outflow narrative
Amid continued redemptions, Wood has defended ARK's strategy in interviews — calling SpaceX a candidate to be the first trillion-dollar IPO (citing space-based datacenters), staying bullish on Tesla's robotaxi economics, and pointing to fresh conviction buys (this week CoreWeave, Recursion, Rocket Lab, Cerebras and Meta) as evidence she'll keep rotating into new theses rather than retreat to cash. Note the other side of that rotation: Personalis, Toast, CareDx, Palantir, Shopify and Amazon were all sold in the same week, and I found no new on-the-record Wood commentary dated this week — her most recent SpaceX remarks I could confirm date from July 22. Whether the rotation discipline or the outflow trend wins out is the open question the outflow figures above don't settle.
The right way to use this page
As a thesis-generator and counterpoint, not a shopping list. Where ARK's number and your sector dashboard disagree, that gap is the interesting research question — log it in your Decision Journal.
Note the quantum caveat
Worth flagging for your Quantum dashboard: ARK explicitly says quantum computing is "unlikely to be disruptive for 20 to 40 years" — a striking dissent from the sector's current valuations.
07 // ARK vs YOUR HUB
Where Their Thesis Meets Your Sectors
ARK themeYour dashboardAgreement / tension
AI InfrastructureAI & ComputeBoth track the capex supercycle. ARK added CoreWeave (~$25.9M), Meta (~$21M net) and Cerebras (~$16M) this week while selling Palantir and Amazon, and is more bullish on duration than most; your page carries the bubble-debate bear case (leverage, 15% bond yields) ARK largely doesn't engage with
Robotics ($26T)RoboticsARKQ's top three are Tesla (11.3%), SpaceX (8.7%) and Nvidia (5.9%), with Teradyne still at 4.5%; this week it added Kodiak AI (autonomous trucking) and Rocket Lab. ARK's 2028 human-level-Optimus call is far ahead of the teleoperation-skeptic view on your page. Useful disagreement to watch
Reusable RocketsSpace EconomyStrong overlap; SpaceX is ARKX's top holding (11.2%) and a top-2 position in ARKK and ARKQ, and ARK added Rocket Lab (~$9.3M) this week even as Neutron slipped to 2027 — a vote for the broader launch thesis over one company's schedule
Distributed EnergyNuclear + StorageARK's ~$10T power capex and ~19× storage scaling support both your dashboards' core theses; no nuclear- or storage-specific trade was reported this week, so the tie-in is the AI-power-demand logic behind CoreWeave and Meta rather than direct positions
MultiomicsAI BiotechSame platform, different framing — ARK leads with longevity TAM, your page leads with clinical proof points. ARK's buying Recursion (AI drug discovery) and gene-editing names while selling Personalis, CareDx and 10x Genomics is a live test of which sub-themes it favours
Bitcoin & Digital AssetsPortfolio StrategyARK's ~$16T base case is far above the 1–5% institutional allocation framing on your strategy page. Both can't be right
QuantumQuantumDirect contradiction — ARK says 20–40 years away, the sector trades at 100–800× sales today
